Travel to Sint Maarten

Air travel to Sint Maarten resumed in June 2020, including for flights from the United States and Canada. Please read below a summary of the government-mandated requirements for travel to Sint Maarten during the pandemic.

There are three things you need to have to be allowed to travel to Sint Maarten: (1) an electronic health authorization, (2) a negative COVID test result, and (3) health insurance coverage.

  1. Submit an application for your electronic health authorization online. Application processing can take up to 12 hours. Click here to begin filling out the application.

  2. If you’re coming from a moderate or high-risk country (which includes the United States and Canada, as classified by Sint Maarten), as part of your application you need to submit a negative COVID test result. Children 10 years or younger are not required to provide a negative COVID test result.

There are two types of tests you are allowed to take. For both tests, the sample must have been obtained with a nasopharyngeal swab. Test results should clearly state the name of the lab, test subject name, test date, type of test administered, name of antigen test (if this option was used), and how the test sample was obtained. If you need help finding a testing location, click here.

Your two options for tests are:

    1. RT-PCR, performed within 120 hours (5 days) prior to departure to Sint Maarten (last leg in case you’re connecting to Sint Maarten).

    2. Antigen test, performed within 48 hours (2 days) prior to departure to Sint Maarten (last leg in case you’re connecting to Sint Maarten). There are four brands of antigen tests Sint Maarten accepts:

      1. Becton Dickinson (BD) Veritor Plus

      2. Abbott Panbio

      3. Abbott BinaxNow

      4. Roche/SD Biosensor F

  3. If your destination is Sint Maarten and you are a tourist, you must have health insurance coverage.
