Question 4

Is jewelry cheaper in Sint Maarten? Is shopping duty-free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sint Maarten is a duty-free island with no sales tax, meaning jewelry purchased here is not subject to the duties and taxes typically applied in the United States and other countries. This can result in meaningful savings, especially on higher-value items like diamond jewelry, engagement rings, and luxury timepieces. It is one of the many reasons so many of our customers make visiting us a tradition every time they are on the island.

Question 5

Do you ship to the United States and Canada?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We ship regularly to customers throughout the United States and Canada. Every order is securely packaged and insured, and signature confirmation is typically required upon delivery so your jewelry arrives safely in the right hands.

Question 6

Can I shop online if I am not visiting Sint Maarten?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Our website at jnjewelers.com features a growing selection of fine jewelry available for purchase online, with shipping to the United States and Canada. While our online inventory is more curated than what you will find in our stores, we add new pieces regularly. If you do not see exactly what you are looking for, reach out to us directly — we may have it in store, be able to help you find something similar, or even create it just for you.

Question 7

What gemstones do you carry?

Accepted Answer

We carry an extensive selection of precious and semi-precious gemstones, including diamonds (both natural and lab-created), emeralds, rubies, sapphires, alexandrite, apatite, aquamarine, morganite, garnet, tsavorite, tanzanite, tourmaline, amethyst, citrine, peridot, topaz, opal, turquoise, pearl, and Larimar — the rare and beautiful blue gemstone found only in the Dominican Republic and beloved throughout the Caribbean. If you are searching for a specific stone, contact us and we will do our best to help.

Question 8

Do you sell lab-created diamonds? Are they real diamonds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and yes. Lab-created diamonds are real diamonds in every sense — they have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. The only difference is their origin: natural diamonds form deep within the earth over billions of years, while lab-created diamonds are grown in a controlled environment. Both are beautiful options, and we are happy to walk you through the differences so you can make the choice that feels right for you. We take great care to clearly distinguish between the two, so you always know exactly what you are purchasing.

Question 9

Do your diamonds come with certification?

Accepted Answer

Many of our diamonds come with certification from leading independent gemological laboratories, including the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and IGI (International Gemological Institute), among others. Certification provides an objective, third-party assessment of a diamond, giving you complete confidence in your purchase.

Question 10

Do you offer jewelry appraisals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our diamond jewelry comes with a complimentary appraisal certificate at no additional cost. An appraisal documents the value of your jewelry, which is important for insurance purposes and peace of mind.

Question 11

What watch brands do you carry?

Accepted Answer

Our flagship J.N. Jewelers store specializes in Swiss timepieces, carrying BALL, Frederique Constant, and Movado, as well as a curated selection of pre-owned Rolex watches. Our Jewels & Beyond and J.N. Jewelers 2 locations carry Citizen, Bulova, Bering, and G-Shock — offering a wide range of styles and price points across our family of stores.

Question 12

Do you sell pre-owned Rolex watches?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our flagship J.N. Jewelers store carries a carefully curated selection of pre-owned Rolex watches. Availability changes, so we recommend contacting us or stopping in to see what we currently have in stock.

Question 13

What designer sunglasses do you carry?

Accepted Answer

Our flagship J.N. Jewelers store carries designer sunglasses by Saint Laurent, Versace, Gucci, and Tiffany. Our Jewels & Beyond and Jewels & Beyond 2 locations carry Ray-Ban, Oakley, Maui Jim, Knockaround, and Floats — perfect for the Sint Maarten sunshine.

Question 14

Do you create custom jewelry?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Custom jewelry is one of our specialties. With almost 40 years of experience and an in-house design team, we bring our clients' visions to life — from dream engagement rings and wedding bands to one-of-a-kind pendants, bracelets, and earrings, as well as redesigned heirloom pieces. Custom orders typically take anywhere from a few days to 8 weeks depending on the complexity of the design. We would love to help you create something truly personal.

Question 15

Do you offer jewelry repair or ring resizing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer a range of repair services including ring resizing, stone replacement, prong re-tipping, and more. Timelines vary depending on the type of work and whether the piece needs to be sent to our service team. Contact us with the details of what you need and we will give you a better estimate.

Question 16

Do you offer a jewelry trade-in program?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We are happy to offer customers the option to trade in their jewelry. Whether you are looking to upgrade a piece, reimagine something you no longer wear, or put the value of an existing item toward something new, we encourage you to reach out or visit us in store to discuss your options.

Question 17

Is everything in your stores available on your website?

Accepted Answer

Not yet, but we are working on it. Our in-store inventory across our four Sint Maarten locations is significantly larger than what is currently on our website, with a wider range of styles, gemstones, and designs to explore in person. Our website features a curated selection of popular essentials — including earrings such as diamond studs, bracelets, pendants, and rings — all available to ship to the United States and Canada. We also have an Available by Request section for pieces that may be in store or can be recreated for you. If you do not see what you are looking for, just ask — we are almost always able to help.
